The new NYS Route 17 Bridge over the Wallkill River in Middletown, NY, serves as
a testament to the value afforded by precast prestressed concrete in bridge design
and construction. Using a 10,000-psi High Performance Concrete (HPC) mix and onsite
post-tensioning of the fifty-one girders, the new bridge spans 360 feet with just
a single intermediate pier support.
