The History of J. P. Carrara & Sons, Inc.

J. P. Carrara & Sons, Inc. is a third generation family owned and operated company that produces sand and stone aggregates, ready-mixed concrete, and precast/prestressed concrete products out of our plants in Rutland and Middlebury, Vermont, and Crown Point, New York.  From its founding in the early 1940s, when an Italian immigrant named Joseph P. Carrara Sr. purchased an old concrete mixer truck to supplement his barn building business, to its position today as one of the leading manufacturers of precast/prestressed concrete products in the Northeast, J. P. Carrara & Sons, Inc. has sustained its commitment to making the highest quality concrete products and delivering the most reliable service.

Our precast division, which began in 1970 with a focus on architectural precast products, was expanded in the late 1970s to include the structural precast/prestressed market.  Today, our diverse line of products includes hollowcore slabs for floor and roof deck systems, beams and slabs for bridges, and components for parking structures and other total precast building solutions.  We are proud of the reputation for quality, reliability, and service that we have earned over the years, and are confident in our continued commitment to provide the best quality concrete products, delivered and erected on time to meet the most demanding construction schedules.
